Denison Till staff to run York 10K as Snow White and the Seven Solicitors

DOPEY, Happy, Sneezy, Bashful, Sleepy, Grumpy and Doc are among the runners lining up to take part in this summer’s York 10K.

In only ten days time, about 6,000 people will line up at York Racecourse to take part in the fourth annual race set up in memory of inspirational fundraiser Jane Tomlinson, who dedicated the final years of her life to raising money for charity while suffering from cancer.

Among those taking part will be a group of fundraisers from York-based law firm Denison Till, who are taking part as Snow White and the Seven Solicitors to raise funds for St Leonard’s Hospice.

By the end of the race the firm will have clocked up more than 270 miles in aid of the charity and hope that this year’s theme will help them to generate yet more funds for this worthy cause.

St Leonard’s Hospice relies almost entirely on donations, legacies and fundraising to support the provision of palliative care and specialist medical services to people with life-threatening illnesses at its 20-bed centre in Tadcaster Road, York.

Sarah Atkinson, community fundraiser at the hospice said: “We are certainly Happy about this wonderful effort from our regular supporters Denison Till – good luck to all the dwarfs.

“We hope that noone ends up Grumpy– though they may all be Sleepy afterwards.”

Employment solicitor, Emma Atkins – who is running as Dopey – said: “Denison Till is delighted to be supporting the charity again and would be pleased to hear from anyone who wants to support us and this fantastic cause.”

Thousands from all walks of life will be taking part in the adult, junior and children’s events on August 5.

The York run, which raises money for The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Martin House Hospice and Macmillan Cancer, along with new partner charities – St Leonard’s Hospice and Bone Cancer Research Trust, has raised £500,000 to date.

The event will begin and end at Knavesmire and pass York landmarks including the Minster, the River Ouse and the former Terry’s factory.
