COLLEAGUES at a York car dealership are battling it out online for a coveted spot in next year’s York 10k.
More than a dozen staff at Vantage Toyota, Clifton Moor, are bidding for one of five places in the charity run, which will take place next August.
The workers have set up a Just Giving page to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at York Hospital.
Friends and family are being encouraged to ‘vote’ for the people they want to undertake the charity run. The five people with the most ‘likes’ will get the chance to go under starter’s orders.
Lena Fowles, of Vantage Toyota, said: “We are going to aim for £2,500. I know that between the staff at our dealership alone, about 30 per cent of the parents have had help from the Special Care Baby Unit so it is very much a charity that is close to home.”
