Andrew Woodmansey, a sixth-form student at Bootham School in York, who has been selected to sing with the senior choir of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.
Andrew now has the chance of auditioning for an international record company recording.
He has been put forward for an audition as one of a small group of eight to 12 male voices for a recording project with Decca/Universal Records.
Paul Feehan, director of music at Bootham, said: “What a brilliant opportunity for Andrew. He’s a gifted musician and a popular soloist at our regular Thursday lunchtime public recitals. He wants to study music after leaving school, and this is an excellent opportunity for him.”
Bootham School is to host the first York Chamber Music Festival in its newly opened arts centre. The festival opens on February 13 with a piano concert.
