A SCHOOLGIRL was injured when she was grabbed by a man in York.
The 12-year-old girl was walking along Viking Road, Acomb, close to the junction with Jute Road at about 3.45pm on Friday, when she was grabbed around the waist from behind by a man she did not recognise.
When he let go, she fell to the ground and suffered a minor knee injury, and the man headed towards Jute Road.
A 51-year-old York man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident, and has been released on bail while police enquiries continue.
A police spokesman said the force was treating the incident as an assault, and encouraged anyone who saw the incident, or has information which could help police, to contact them on 101.
