York gun salute to mark royal anniversary
A 21-gun Royal Salute will be staged in York’s Museum Gardens at noon tomorrow to mark the 62nd anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne.
The salute will be carried out with three 105mm light guns by soldiers from 4th Regiment Royal Artillery, based in Alanbrooke Barracks, Topcliiffe.
It will consist of 21 rounds being fired at ten-second intervals, and will be open to the public to watch.
The celebrations will begin at 10.45am, when The Heavy Cavalry & Cambrai Band, based at Catterick, perform a marching display on their way from Duncombe Place, near York Minister, reaching the gardens at 11.30am and continuing to entertain onlookers until just before the salute is fired at noon.
