INDEPENDENT businesses were on hand to show shoppers how to improve their home and garden during a two-day exhibition.

The York Lifestyle Exhibition returned to Dean’s Garden Centre for the second year, organised by the York Lifestyle Group, a group of local independent firms, and featured more than a dozen ways of making your home and garden more stylish.

The Acorn Gallery from Pocklington had two artists painting during the exhibition as well as showing completed paintings.

Other exhibitors included Astek Garden Design which laid out an entire small garden, Monks Cross Tiles and Bathrooms which brought a large old-fashioned bath on legs, Allerthorpe Country Park which gave visitors the chance to stand on a wind surfer, and Focus Fireplaces Ltd.

They also had the chance to learn from experts on flooring, interior design, electrical appliances, cycling, bedrooms and windows and look at their products.
