Ideas for the annual event – which has included shows, concerts, talks, walks, sport events, dances, poetry, arts and crafts and a variety of workshops – are being accepted until tomorrow’s deadline.

It is hoping to build on the success of last year’s event, which saw more than 2,000 men, women and children get involved Already planned for this year’s festival, which runs from March 8 to 15, is a series of events of local and international interest at the Mansion House hosted by The Lord Mayor, Coun Julie Gunnell.

The York Settlement Players are in the midst of rehearsing Githa Sowerby’s The Stepmother, about a northern industrial family. And there will be a chance to Dance Your Inner Fire with Karen Michaelsen, who is also offering reflexology. Other activities will be facial treatments at the Healing Clinic, life coaching with Jo Holloway, and a soul drumming workshop being organised by Lesley Eastman.
