YORK party band Huge have held their annual concert at the Grand Opera House and are now planning to take their show on tour to towns and villages.

This year is the 21st anniversary of the band’s first ever Grand Opera House gig, and lead singer Big Ian Donaghy said the night was an amazing success.

“We had 900 people in - a near sell-out - and the atmosphere was terrific with a great audience of people who are not musos, but love music.

“We now want to take the gig on tour to village halls and sports clubs, because I think there are a lot of people in the villages who are quite isolated. We are calling it the Village Idiots’ Tour, because we are four idiots coming to your village.”

Collection buckets took donations for St Leonard’s Hospice after Saturday’s gig. The concert and fundraising efforts in the run up to it - including busking in the centre of York - are expected to raise at least £2000 for the hospice, he added.
