THE Government provided local authorities in North Yorkshire less than £1,000 in compensation following the floods last year.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs showed City of York Council and North Yorkshire County Council did not receive any funding from the Government, despite suffering about £2 million in damage during the flooding last autumn.
Richmondshire District Council received £915 in compensation under the Bellwin Scheme – which compensates authorities when the emergency is beyond a council’s ability to cover without assistance.
