WITH more household waste being produced at Christmas than any other time of the year, “Father Christmas” has stepped in to promote the recycling message.
Every year Andy Richardson, who works at Yorwaste’s Hazel Court recycling and waste management centre off James Street, York, dresses up as the man in red to remind householders over the festive period to recycle their Christmas waste.
Mr Richardson said: “It’s a tradition for me to dress up at Christmas, not just to spread some Christmas cheer, but to remind people to come back after Christmas and recycle all their wrapping paper, and boxes, and unwanted items they have cleared out at home.”
