HARRY Gration has received his MBE from the Prince of Wales in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The Look North presenter, who has lived in York almost all his life, said receiving the award had been an emotional experience.

He said he was impressed by how much Prince Charles knew about each of the recipients at the investiture.

Before the ceremony Harry posted on his Twitter account saying he was nervous about the day ahead.

Later, he thanked his colleagues at Look North in Leeds and added: “Dickie Bird trained me well. Sorry about emotion. Once again thanks to all.”

The award honoured Harry’s services to broadcasting and was first announced in last year’s Birthday Honours list.

The former St Peter's School pupil has spent more than 40 years in broadcasting including the Today programme, and Match Of The Day.

He spent 12 years at Look North before landing a presenter's job on South Today eventually returning to Leeds to anchor the show in 1999 and now lives in York with his wife Helen.
