AN ELDERLY woman has been seriously injured in a collision with a cyclist in Ripon.
The crash happened at about 11.45am on Tuesday at North Street when the 84-year-old local woman was crossing the road in the direction of the police station.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said a bicycle, ridden by a 68-year-old local man, was riding in the direction of the clock tower when it collided with the woman.
The woman was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious injuries, where she remains in a comfortable condition. The cyclist was not injured.
Traffic Constable Rob Roberts said: “If you witnessed the collision, or saw either of the people involved just prior to the incident, I urge you to contact the police straight away, as you may have vital information that could assist my investigation.”
