Extra police to patrol trains at Christmas

EXTRA uniformed and plain clothes officers from British Transport Police will be on patrol on trains and platforms around North Yorkshire this Christmas, in a series of special operations to tackle thieves.

Officers will also be on the look out for those who act antisocially, ensuring that rail staff are not subjected to any kind of abuse or assault.

Video clips have also been uploaded at btp.police.uk/theft to help the public identify the 13 most common tricks used by thieves.

Transpennine trains from Manchester to Scotland now travel via Wigan and NOT Bolton - so if you're going to Bolton then carefully check which train you're getting on.

Wednesday December 12: The 2120 Manchester Airport to Newcastle service will not call at Thirsk.
Customers for Thirsk should remain on the train to Northallerton and change there for road transport back to Thirsk.
Road Transport will be provided from Thirsk (dep 2321) to Northallerton to connect with the train.


CHRISTMAS EVE:
The following services will not run:
2120 Manchester Airport to Newcastle
2150 Middlesbrough to York
2156 Newcastle to Manchester Airport
2022 & 2230 Liverpool Lime St to York
2205 Scarborough to York
2222 & 2318 Manchester Airport to York

The following services will terminate at York:
1822 Liverpool Lime St to Scarborough
1835 Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough
2004 Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport
2020 Manchester Airporrt to Scarborough
2050 Middlesbrough to Manchester Piccadilly

1852 Newcastle to Manchester Airport will terminate at Manchester Piccadilly.

1922 Liverpool Lime St to Hull will be diverted to terminate at York. An additional service will operate from Leeds to Hull departing at 2119 and calling at South Milford, Selby, Howden and Brough.

1948 Scarborough to Liverpool Lime St will terminate at Stalybridge


NEW YEARS
Tuesday (New Years's Eve)
The 2156 Newcastle to Manchester Piccadilly service will be re-timed to depart Huddersfield later at 0008.
The 2340 Manchester Piccadilly to York service will be re-timed to depart EARLIER at 2336 and will not call at Dewsbury. This service will be re-timed to depart Leeds later at 0102 and arrive at York at 0127.
A replacement bus will run from Huddersfield to Dewsbury (dep 0026).

Wednesday (New Year's Day)
The 0053 Manchester Piccadilly to York and 0138 York to Manchester Piccadilly services will not run.
The 0430 Manchester Piccadilly to Scarborough service will be re-timed to depart Manchester Piccadilly at 0500. (All other times unaltered).
The 0252 York to Manchester Piccadilly service will be re-timed to depart Huddersfield later at 0411 and arrive at Manchester Piccadilly earlier at 0443.

From 25 December 2013 until 1 January 2014 trains will not be able to run to Manchester Victoria.

Services to the west of Manchester will start and terminate at Salford Central, or will be diverted to Manchester Oxford Road.

Services to the east of Manchester will be replaced by buses between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale/Ashton-unde
r-Lyne.

This is to allow Manchester Victoria station to have overhead electric cables installed for electric trains, and also will require some track near Cheetam Hill to be lowered for clearance issues.
