THE former home of Yorkshire tourism could become a children’s nursery and create up to 45 new jobs under new plans.

Yorkshire Tourist Board – now Welcome to Yorkshire – moved out of its Tadcaster Road headquarters in York in 2009 and moved to Leeds.

Proposals have now been drawn up to turn the site, which has been vacant since April, into a private day nursery capable of taking up to 110 children aged up to five. LHL Group, the agents for applicant Vanessa Warn, said in a statement to City of York Council planners that the scheme could create 25 full-time and 20 part-time jobs.
