SEVENTY York women - including the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Julie Gunnell, enjoyed a special pre-Christmas fashion show hosted by She Loves York at Bedern Hall.

The event showcased clothes from the high street including LK Bennett, Hobbs, French Connection and Warehouse, as well as independent York shops like Kenzi UK and wedding and eveningwear company Forevermore, based in Selby There were also stalls selling jewellery from Something Different in Shambles and Joanna Keeley flowers, and the night was planned to inspire people with festive looks ahead of the party season.

She Loves York founder Tricia Sheriff said she was thrilled with how well the night went.

“When I set up She Loves York people said I’d never get high street brands to join, but now we’ve got some great names taking part. I think it’s great to get all these companies under one roof. The businesses get a good result and the members have a good night out when we work together.

“At a time when independent companies are struggling, I think it’s important to find more creative ways to draw attention t your business.”

The event was sponsored by Savills, and a grand raffle, with prizes from all the companies taking part, raised £300 for York Against Cancer.

Next year, She Loves York is sponsoring the Lord Mayor’s Ball in February, and is looking forward to holding its own ball as well as two seasonal fashion shows through the year and other events.
