POLICE are still searching for information after a "distressed" woman was spotted getting into a car in Heslington on Monday morning.
Officers first appealed for information after a passerby spotted the woman getting into a black Peugeot 206 on Bad Bargain Lane at around 9am.
A member of the public called police with information after the initial appeal yesterday afternoon and officers have tracked down the car and arrested and bailed a York man in his 30s but have not been able to find the woman.
They still want to hear from anyone who was around Bad Bargain Lane at around 9am on Monday.
Anyone with any information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for York CID, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 12130208360.
