Bonfires and firework displays in and around York
BONFIRES and firework displays are set to light up the skies all over the region as Guy Fawkes Day approaches.
Kaboom’s “out of this world” experience will incorporate 3D effects, a Doctor Who lookalike, a Dalek, a Cyberman and a Tardis, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the TV programme. Tickets should be purchased in advance via kaboomyork.com or from the Visit York Information Centre in Museum Street.
York Maze’s bonfire will have a four-metre wooden Dalek placed on top as a Guy, with fireworks choreographed to a soundtrack of hits on the theme of Doctor Who. Tickets should be bought in advance from yorkmaze.co.uk.
Displays on Saturday in York include a James Bond-themed musical fireworks display, dubbed For Your Eyes Only at the Bumper Castle, Wigginton Road; a family bonfire, fireworks and live music in Horsfield Lane, Dunnington; and a display at the Acorn Rugby Club in Thanet Road.
On Bonfire Night itself, events include a family bonfire, fireworks, hog roast, burgers, hot dogs, bar and live music at Poppleton Centre and a big display, children’s activities, mulled wine and cider, sparklers and an outdoor bar at Copmanthorpe Sports Club.
In Goole, the town council and Shooting Fish will present a Bonfire Night extravaganza dubbed The Tempest at West Park, in Airmyn Road.
Malton’s Old Lodge Hotel will be staging a display, bonfire and food on Saturday; a bonfire and firework display will be staged by Osgoldcross and Elmet Rotary in South Milford on Saturday; and in Beverley the Lions Club is organising a display on the Beverley Westwood on Guy Fawkes Night.
