A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a road accident at Topcliffe, near Thirsk.
The A167 was closed for around six hours, between the A168 junction in Topcliffe and the junction with the A61 at the Busby Stoop roundabout. The road reopened at around 7.45pm.
The fire service said a Vauxhall Corsa carrying two men collided with a tree on the road outside Alanbrooke Barracks in Topcliffe at around 2.45pm today, Wednesday.
Fire crews were called to free the men who were trapped in the vehicle and one, aged 24, was taken by air ambulance to James Cook Hospital in Middlesborough with what police said were life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed between Topcliffe and the Busby Stoop roundabout for several hours as accident investigators worked at the scene.
