Yorkshire Museum of Farming at Murton marks Land Girls contribution to war effort
9:17am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in News
WOMEN who served in the Land Army visited a York Museum at an event organised to help celebrate their contribution to the war effort.
The event at the Yorkshire Museum of Farming at the weekend marked the culmination of a year-long programme of events and an exhibition called Feeding The Nation, which explores the lives of those involved in the Women’s Land Army. The exhibition at the museum is based on interviews with more than a dozen women who worked in Yorkshire and further afield during the Second World War and material donated to the museum by ex-members in 1989.
The opening, earlier this year, was marked by the museum’s curator, Esther Graham, and Visit York chief executive Gillian Cruddas donning Land Army attire.
