REMAINING tickets are running out for Pocktoberfest this weekend.

The music festival in Pocklington tomorrow and Sunday is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and the programme includes acoustic music from major acts as well as craft ales, lagers and ciders.

Headling this year’s line-up in The Old Railway Station is Brit Award and Mercury Music nominee Richard Hawley. The festival will also feature Squeeze frontman Glen Tilbrook. They are joined by two of the USA’s most supremely gifted singer-songwriters – the Grammy-nominated Tift Merritt and Josh Ritter, recently named as one of the 100 greatest living songwriters.

Tickets have been on sale at the town’s art centre and manager Janet Farmer says they have been selling fast.

Mrs Farmer said: “We are close to selling out on the Sunday. There are tickets still available for Saturday at the moment, but they are selling fast so I’d advise people to get in touch soon. We are well ahead of last year on sales.

“We have always had a great atmosphere and great music and this year we are going up a gear – the music we have is just stunning. It’s going to be fantastic.

“The venue is such a fantastic place, it’s an old railway station closed since Beeching’s days. It’s owned by Pocklington School and we have Palms 13, a young band from the school on the bill, which is quite fitting.

“There are also more than 60 beers, fantastic wines, wonderful ciders and great lagers, all there ready for the weekend.”

The festival will also showcase up-and-coming Yorkshire musicians including Boss Caine, Hope And Social, TE Morris, Edwina Hayes, The Gallenders, Hayley Gaftarnick and Chris Helm, as well as party band Huge.

Saturday tickets cost £10, including festival brochure and souvenir glass. Sunday tickets cost £38, or £30 for under-21s, or family tickets cost £110 for two adults and two under-16s, or one adult and three children.

Weekend tickets cost £45 for adults, £35 for under-21s, or £130 for a family ticket. All tickets are available from Pocklington Arts Centre.
