Museum Gardens nightlife to be put in spotlight
10:00am Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
VISITORS to York’s Museum Gardens will be given a special look at its nightlife next week.
A section of the gardens, as well as the Hospitium and a storytelling marquee, will be the backdrop for a free family event organised by the Yorkshire Museum called In The Museum Night Garden between 5pm and 9pm next Wednesday, with the focus being on nature and space.
It will include appearances from fire artists, craft stalls, hedgehog-mapping and the chance to wander through the Cosmodrome, with York Astronomical Society providing guests with the chance to gaze at the night sky and the museum displaying pieces from its nocturnal animal taxidermy collection.
“We wanted to create an event which was informative, but entertaining and fun at the same time, and In The Museum Night Garden is going to have something for everybody and will give guests an insight into the nightlife which is abundant in the Museum Gardens,” said Emma Williams, York Museums Trust assistant curator of science and archaeology learning.
Visitors can access the event from the Museum Gardens’ Marygate entrance, and more information is at yorkshiremuseum.org.uk.
