Alarm flock: early morning adventures for East Riding sheep
COUNTING sheep might help some people drop off at night; it's less often they wake people up.
But in Wilberfoss, villagers woke up this morning to find a flock of sheep calmly taking up residence in their front gardens.
Mum Vanessa Mills, who lives on Park Lane, spotted them outside her next door neighbour’s house at about 7am.
“It’s not often you see a flock of sheep in your neighbour’s front garden. It was very strange! About 16 or 17 of them were just standing there.
"My little boy, who’s three, was very excited.”
The sheep had escaped from a field not far from the village so a neighbour and two other women, who had stopped on their way to work, took on temporary sheep dog duties keeping the sheep rounded up until the farmer arrived to herd them home.
