Teenager robbed next to York river
A TEENAGER has been robbed on a York riverbank after being attacked by two men who escaped on bicycles.
The 19-year-old victim was walking home alongside the River Foss on Huntington Road, opposite the entrance to Lowther Street, at about 1.30am on Friday when the pair of attackers grabbed him and forced him to the ground.
They stole his Samsung mobile phone, iPod and headphones, the hooded top he was wearing, his cigarettes and a small amount of cash before riding off towards Huntington. North Yorkshire Police said the teenager who was robbed is "receiving support following his ordeal".
One of the robbers is about 6ft, in his mid to late 30s, with a medium build, thin face and a small amount of stubble. He was wearing a black jacket with its hood up and a blue design across the front, black trousers and jeans, and possibly trainers.
The second attacker, who had covered his face with a black balaclava-type hat but whose blond facial hair - possibly a moustache and goatee beard - was still visible through the material, is also about 6ft but thinner. He was wearing dark clothes.
Detective Constable Alicja Wdowiak of York CID, said: “This incident is very concerning and we are working hard to track the suspects down.
“As part of our enquiries, I am appealing to local residents and visitors who may have witnessed the incident by the riverbank on Huntington Road during the early hours of Friday morning. I also need to hear from people who can possibly help to identify either of the men from the descriptions, as well as anyone who noticed two men riding bicycles in the area around at around this time.”
