UPDATED: Road blocked after two-car crash
9:20am Monday 7th October 2013 in News
A ROAD in York was blocked this morning after a two-car crash which led to a woman being taken to hospital.
The collision, involving a red Land Rover and a white BMW, happened on St Helen's Road in Dringhouses, near its junction with Thanet Road and Eason View, at about 8.55am.
Witnesses said the Land Rover ended up perched on the bonnet of the BMW at the junction, and firefighters, paramedics and police were called to the scene. Bus operator First said the crash caused disruption to its No.4 service, which had to run on an alternative route until St Helen's Road was cleared.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the road was reopened just after 10am and the female driver of the BMW has been taken to hospital with whiplash injuries, but the driver of the Land Rover was not hurt.
Anybody who saw the crash should phone 101 and ask for the force control room.
