York post office to close for facelift
9:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
A YORK post office will close for several weeks for a refurbishment later this month.
Heworth Post Office will be modernised through the scheme, with three screened serving positions and better access for wheelchair-users, as well as a low-level counter, being installed. Its opening hours will be 9am to 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday, meaning it will be operating five extra hours a week.
The branch will close at the end of business on October 21 and reopen at 1pm on November 6, with customers advised to use Melrosegate post office instead during this time.
Adrian Wales, Post Office regional network manager for central England, said: “This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, which will see about half the network converting to new-style branches.”
