A NORTH Yorkshire parish council has secured a £10,000 Lottery windfall to install a street snooker game at a local play area.
The money, one of the grants made through the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme, will go to Sherburn-in-Elmet Parish Council for a project designed to reduce anti-social behaviour among young people.
In total, 246 awards have been made to projects around the UK, with Nat Sloane, the fund’s chair, saying: “The Awards for All programme provided an excellent opportunity for community groups to make their great ideas become a reality.”
The programme offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 to schemes which improve local communities, in areas such as developing skills, health and regenerating the environment. Voluntary and community groups, schools, health bodies and parish and town councils can all apply.
