SUCCESS in tackling retail crime has put a North Yorkshire initiative in the national spotlight.
The Harrogate District Businesses Against Crime Partnership was named runner-up at the National Partnership Achievement Awards after developing schemes in Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough. The group was praised for its use of technology in connecting council CCTV cameras to radio users through the Radiolink scheme.
Julia Stack, Harrogate Borough Council’s community safety and CCTV manager, said: “It was a huge surprise and we are delighted that the work we are doing locally has had national recognition.”
