Man proposes to girlfriend at 10k obstacle run
8:45am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
A YORK fitness enthusiast found an unusual spot to ask his girlfriend to marry him.
Gary Kitching, 46, had decided he wanted to propose to Clare Sherwood, but he knew he didn’t want to do it in the normal way.
So, after completing a 10k obstacle run at Bramham Park, near Tadcaster, organised by British Military Fitness, Gary dropped down on one knee and asked 32-year-old Clare to marry him. Happily, she said yes.
About 2,000 people took part in the obstacle race, known as The Major Series. Entrants successfully tackled obstacles such as the “stench trench”, freezing ice crawls and blockade walls, with the help and encouragement of troops posted around the course and fellow runners.
