Scores of schools to shut on day of strikes

As we reported last week, many schools will close or part close as teachers strike in a row over conditions and changes within education.

Members of the two main teaching unions, the NUT and NASUWT, will walk out, and union leaders are expecting the majority of schools across the region to be affected.

In North Yorkshire the list of schools part-closed is: Boroughbridge Primary School, Brayton College, Broomfield School, Carlton and Faceby CE Primary School, Catterick Garrison (Carnagill Community Primary School), Catterick Garrison (Le Cateau Community Primary School), Ermysteds Grammar School, Friarage Community Primary School, Hambleton/ Richmondshire Pupil Referral Service, Hawes Community Primary School, Helmsley Community Primary School, High Bentham Community Primary School, Hipswell CE, Hookstone Chase Community Primary School, Hutton Rudby Primary School, Ingleton Primary School, King James School, Lealholm Primary School, Leeming and Londonderry Community Primary School, Malton School, Middleham CE School, Nidderdale High School and Community College, Oatlands Community Junior School, Risedale Community College, Ruswarp CE, Saltergate Infant School, Scarborough Pupil Referral Unit, Braeburn Infant and Nursery School, Seamer and Irton Community Primary School, Settle College, Sowerby Community Primary School, St Francis Xavier School, St. Georges RC, St. Heddas RC, St. Hildas Ampleforth CE, St Joseph’s RC Primary Pickering, St. Marys Catholic Primary School, Stakesby Community Primary School, Starbeck Community Primary and Nursery, Stokesley School, Thirsk Community Primary School, Thirsk School and Sixth Form College, Thornton in Craven Community Primary School, Whitby Community College, Willow Tree Community Primary School.

Meanwhile, in York, the schools set to be partially closed are: Applefields, Archbishop of York’s CE Juniors, Copmanthorpe, Dunnington, Elvington, Fishergate, Hempland, Huntington Primary, Lord Deramore’s, New Earswick, Osbaldwick, Our Ladies, Park Grove, Poppleton Road, Robert Wilkinson, Scarcroft, St Oswald’s CE, St Paul’s CE, Tang Hall, Westfield, Wigginton, Woodthorpe, All Saints RC, Archbishop Holgate’s CE, Canon Lee, Huntington Secondary, Joseph Rowntree, Millthorpe, York High School and Danesgate.

The York schools which are to close are Bishopthorpe Infants, Headlands, Hob Moor, Knavesmire, St Aelred’s RC, Stockton-on-the-Forest, Yearsley Grove and Fulford.

In East Yorkshire schools closed include Barmby on the Marsh primary, Beverley Grammar, Beverley High, Beverley St Nicholas, Driffield Juniors, Driffield School, Howden Juniors, Howden School and Technology College, Pocklington Juniors, St. John of Beverly Primary School, The Market Weighton School, The Snaith School, Woldgate College.

East Yorkshire schools that are part closed include: Beverly Minster, Bridlington School, Goole High, Market Weighton Infants, Pocklington CE Infants. Schools not listed should be open as normal.
