Raising awareness of cancer campaign
9:33am Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
A CAMPAIGN has been launched to highlight a charity during breast cancer awareness month.
The Yorkshire In The Pink campaign was launched yesterday when Hugh Bayley, MP for York Central, met Alison Toop, trusts and community fundraiser for The Yorkshire Haven.
Campaigners hope to raise awareness of the support available during October and to encourage people to begin their own fundraising events.
Mr Bayley said: “The team at The Haven help people to cope with the physical and emotional experience of breast cancer by offering free advice and psychological support as well as by providing complementary therapies.”
The charity currently has centres nationwide and is the only charity to offer one-to-one support free of charge. Specialist nurses and experts give advice on nutrition, exercise, complementary therapies and emotional support.
Mr Bayley said: “I hope the Yorkshire In The Pink campaign will raise awareness of the Haven’s services available to those in Yorkshire affected by breast cancer.”
