York river rescue drama
A MAN was rescued from the River Foss in York in the early hours of Saturday.
North Yorkshire Fire Service sent river rescue boats to the 33-year-old man, who was trapped in very shallow water off Huntington Road, at just after 8am.
A spokeswoman said the man had suffered an arm injury and had a pre-existing illness which left him unable to climb the steep banks of the river, and he was believed to have been in the water for several hours.
