Melrosegate attack victim in hospital transfer
9:23am Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
THE victim of a street attack who was left fighting for his life has been transferred to a hospital closer to his family.
Anthony Lansbury, 51, suffered a serious head injury in the attack in the early hours of Thursday, September 5, in Melrosegate, York, and underwent life-saving surgery at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Mr Lansbury has since regained consciousness, and has been moved to a ward at York Hospital.
Kim Farrar, Mr Lansbury’s sister, said she was happy he was closer to people who could visit him, but he may be moved again next week, as he will require one-to-one rehabilitation during his recovery which is not available in York.
She said: “Doctors have given us more time with Anthony, because the more he sees the better it is but he still doesn’t know me, and they’ve encouraged all his friends to come and see him. He’s staying conscious a bit more but he’s still confused and it’s going to be a long time. They’re trying to find somewhere in York but he could be sent to Dewsbury, which would be a long trek.”
Mrs Farrar encouraged his friends to visit this weekend if possible.
