Business is blooming for York businessmen after date with Prime Minister David Cameron

TWO York businessmen wowed Prime Minister David Cameron with their floral displays at a Downing Street reception.
The Prime Minister met Richard Bothamley, 62, and Glenn Hamilton, 54, from Setting The Scene florist in Bishopthorpe Road at an event held for British entrepreneurs who have benefited from the Government’s New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) and Start-Up Loan schemes.
The duo opened their business nine months ago with help from the NEA and were in the capital on the day the Government announced a further £70 million was being invested in the scheme.
Mr Bothamley, who lives in Bishopthorpe, said: “We were asked to take some of our flowers down and we were able to park right outside and went in through the front door of Number 10 which was a real thrill.
"There were about 100 people from all over the country there on the day, but there were only 12 of us asked to put on a display so we felt quite privileged. He spoke to us for about ten minutes and we had a bit of banter about his recent trip to York to his sister-in-law’s wedding.
“It was a bit nerve wracking getting the flowers there in the back of the car, but it all went well in the end and we were thrilled to be invited.”
