UPDATE: Driver flown to hospital after Rufforth crash
A MAN in his 60s has been flown to hospital with serious injuries after a road accident near Rufforth.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the B1224 Wetherby road towards Rufforth at about 3.25pm today.
A car had left the road and overturned in a field, police said, and fire crews fought to free the driver.
Both a road ambulance and the air ambulance were sent, and the man has now been taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance, with serious chest injuries.
The road reopened just after 8pm but and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward by calling 101, quoting incident number 249 of 11 September.
Around half an hour before, officers were called to another crash in York.
Two cars - a Volkswagon Passat and a Renault Megane - were involved in a collision at the junction of Manor Road and Shipton Road.
It is thought there were no serious injuries but the road was partially blocked in both directions.
