Kirkgate carol concerts get new home
10:01am Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
THE Carols in Kirkgate Christmas concert has found a new home.
The concerts, which have taken place in the Castle Museum’s Victorian Street, Kirkgate, for 51 years, will not be held there this year and instead for the first time they will be performed in the Medieval splendour of the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on Fossgate.
Kirkgate is unavailable this year as the Castle Museum prepares for a large-scale redevelopment of its galleries.
Organisers say that, although in a different location, the concerts will still be performed by the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir and the Kirkgate Ladies, with the concerts to be known as Carols in Fossgate.
Performance dates for Carols in Fossgate are on December 4, 9 and 10 with tickets at £12 going on sale at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on October 1 at 9am.
