PRIME Minister David Cameron shrugged off a turbulent few weeks in the political world as he paid the North Yorkshire countryside a visit for his sister-in-law’s wedding.

Fresh from attending the G20 summit in St Petersburg hours earlier, Mr Cameron strolled into Sutton-on-the-Forest Parish Church, near York, on Saturday with his wife Samantha, whose half-sister Alice Sheffield was tying the knot with Etienne Cadestin.

Mrs Cameron and the new Mrs Cadestin – who arrived at the church for her big day in a horse and cart – are the daughters of baronet Sir Reginald Sheffield, who lives at the village’s Sutton Park stately home.

Pictures from the wedding day showed the Prime Minister in relaxed mood following the high-level Russian summit and the fallout from the House of Commons vote that the UK should not be involved in military action against Syria, as he smiled and applauded during the ceremony and took pictures on his mobile phone.

Mrs Cadestin, 32, who has worked for Mr Cameron as a correspondence secretary is the founder and director of environmentally friendly cosmetics website Bare Faced Cheek.

Her new husband, 27, is a senior sustainability and energy consultant at estate agents Knight Frank, according to his LinkedIn page.

Sir Reginald, the eighth baronet Sheffield, married Mrs Cadestin’s mother Victoria Walker – now Lady Sheffield – after he and Mrs Cameron’s mother Annabel divorced in 1974.

The Sheffield family home has been Sutton Park, an 18th-century Georgian country house within the Forest of Galtres, since 1963.

Away from the wedding celebrations, Mr Cameron’s Saturday also involved making a congratulations call to the new Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, following his election victory that day.
