Fun run in memory of Philip Curtis
9:26am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
THE widow of a York school governor who died suddenly earlier this year is staging a fundraising fun run in his memory this weekend.
“There will be a number of short fun run races for all age groups alongside a number of stalls, a raffle, a BBQ run by the local scout group, teas, coffees and lots of cakes,” she said.
Mrs Curtis was widowed when her husband Philip, an apparently fit and healthy father-of-three, died of heart failure after returning home from a run. He had served for many years as a school governor and was involved in many fundraising activities.
She has said her husband would have carried on fundraising, had he been given the chance, and the weekend event would make money for the Leeds Children’s Hospital and for a defibrillator for the school.
