Free entry to York Dungeon if your surname is Crapper
9:41am Saturday 31st August 2013 in News
FREE entry to a York tourist attraction is on offer to namesakes of a pioneer of a modern convenience – but only for a short while.
Anyone who can prove they bear the surname Crapper will be entitled to free entry to York Dungeon until tomorrow, while patrons named Thomas will receive a 50 per cent discount.
The namesake offer pays tribute to Thomas Crapper, the Yorkshire-born pioneer of the modern flushing toilet.
It is all part of the attraction’s Summer Of Stink event, which gives families the chance to experience five “smell zones” from 2,000 years of York’s history, including the famous aromas of the city’s Shambles.
