Seminar to detail Tour de France Cultural Festival
8:23am Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
York is being encouraged to show its artistic credentials by getting involved in the latest Tour de France event.
Organisations and individuals interested in being part of the Tour de France 100 Days Cultural Festival are being invited to attend a regional briefing.
The briefing, on September 9, from 10am to noon at York St John University, will be one of a number being held across the region by Maria Bota, the newly-appointed festival director for the Yorkshire Grand Départ Cultural Festival.
Coun Sonja Crisp, City of York Council’s cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “This gathering is intended for artists, arts organisations, people involved in setting up festivals and events, the creative industries and educationalists involved in arts and events.
“It will be a good opportunity for those who would like to take part in the build-up to the 2014 Tour de France across Yorkshire to meet the regional organiser, find out more about the creative vision for the festival, how to get involved and the commissioning process and guidelines around it.”
Celebrations in support of the world famous cycling race will take place from March 27 next year until July 5, when Le Tour is welcomed to Yorkshire.
