Car crashes outside Walmgate Bar
5:31pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
EMERGENCY services are currently at Walmgate Bar, after a motorist lost control of his vehicle and crashed into traffic lights.
The incident happened just before 5pm, when the grey car hit the traffic lights in the centre of Barbican Road.
Two police vehicles, a North Yorkshire Ambulance Service rapid response vehicle and a fire engine were sent to the scene, with police officers directing traffic after a number of linked traffic lights appeared to fail.
The driver, a man believed to be in his fifties, was not seriously injured in the incident.
Traffic is still flowing, and a spokesperson for North Yorkshire police said the vehicle has now been recovered and the council were working on fixing the traffic lights.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time if passing the area.
