Dress sold by boutique becomes York’s hottest property
The owner of a York fashion boutique has said business is booming thanks to the sale of one dress.
Frank Kerr, who owns Miss Diva on Low Petergate has sold more than 100 dresses.
Mr Kerr, 67, who used to oversee merchandising for Quiz clothing stores across the country, said: “I have been selling this dress to everyone from the ages of 30 to 84.
“I’m making the older women look 40 whereas other shops make them look 50, 60 or 70. I am giving them fashion.”
The dress comes in three styles – a short strapless dress, a floor length v-neck maxi dress and a strapless maxi dress.
The shorter dress is priced at £70 and the two longer dresses cost £80.
Mr Kerr said: “I have been in business for 45 years and to sell as many as I have in these times is a miracle.
“I have stocked the dresses for about eight weeks and have sold 107 already.
“I bought them from a company called Stella Morgan in London with Christmas in mind but I have already bought 70 more.”
Since setting up the business seven years ago Mr Kerr has rebranded it to appeal to the over 35’s market.
He said: “I’m making them feel young again. Two 84-year-old women came in the other day and bought two of the maxi dresses. They looked fantastic.”
