7:43am Friday 16th August 2013 in News
MORE than 30 administrative workers from rail firm East Coast repainted a former railway bridge on a cycle route near York.
East Coast’s audit and finance teams raised £150 for cycling charity Sustrans by each paying £5 to take part in a project to repaint the former rail crossing over the Ouse at Naburn and clear nearby undergrowth.
Finance controller Donna Haigh said: “We had a fantastic day. The team was really pleased to be given the opportunity to take on such a great challenge and was determined to make a difference.
“The toughest part of the day was definitely the race against time to try do as much as we could. Unfortunately, due the undercoat needing six hours it was always going to be a struggle to finish the bridge.”
The project is part of the York Cares Team Challenge programme which brings together groups of business volunteers from with organisations to help improve communities.
