TICKETS are on sale now for the annual Yorkshireman’s dinner at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, Fossgate, which raises money for York Against Cancer.
The black-tie event, on Thursday, October 10, includes a traditional four- course Yorkshiremans dinner, and guest speakers including Premiership and international football referee Howard Webb.
Also speaking at the event will be Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome To Yorkshire, which helped bring the Tour de France to York, where the second stage starts on June 6, 2014.
Tickets for the event are £65, and tables of ten are available to book for £650, with proceeds going towards the £60,000 previous events have already raised for York Against Cancer’s various avenues of support and research.
A spokesman for the charity said: “Last year, during our 25th Silver Celebration, we wanted a significant project that the people of York could get behind.
“It needed to be something that people could instantly understand how it would benefit families affected by cancer so it was decided that we would purchase of a respite apartment in Whitby where we send cancer patients and their families for short breaks.
“This was a very exciting project for York Against Cancer; one that is proving to be a great success. Since the apartment opened its doors to visitors it has been fully occupied.”
