Two pupils from Forest of Galtres Primary School at Shipton by Beningbrough spoke in the House of Lords as part of a national event to launch the Religious Education Quality Mark.
Patrick Cavanagh and Emily Windrum, both aged 11, from Shipton by Beningbrough, spoke about “what we like most about RE in our school” in front of peers and MPs.
Lady Perry entertained Emily, Patrick and Rachel Oates from the school and Olivia Seymour from the Diocese of York to tea at the House of Lords.
Mrs Seymour, Diocese of York Education Advisor said: “The Forest of Galtres Primary School is the first school in the Diocese of York to have been awarded a gold REQM, and we’re really proud of them.
“The Gold Mark acknowledges the school’s excellent RE teaching. RE makes a powerful contribution to young people’s learning.”
