A couple have shaved their heads and surpassed their target of raising £1,000 for charity.
David and Lucie Wigley, from Rawcliffe, have raised a current total of £1350 for Cancer Research UK.
Mrs Wigley, a teaching assistant at Forest of Galtres School, said the couple were”"totally chuffed” at having beaten their £1,000-goal, a figure which had already been increased from £500.
Mrs Wigley shaved her hair in front of the school. She said: “The kids were really excited and kept on asking to rub my head afterwards”.
Mr Wigley, 46, a self-employed builder, joined his wife and also had his beard shaved off.
The money raised is being donated to bowel cancer and leukemia research. Mrs Wigley has also donated over a foot of hair to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children with cancer.
