A WOMAN’S body was found in a field close to a railway line near a Selby village.

North Yorkshire Police are investigating the circumstances of the 51-year-old’s death after her body was found at Monk Fryston on Saturday.

They were called by a member of the public at 3.20pm following the discovery of the body in a field next to the A63.

The road remained closed for more than a day to allow officers to examine the scene. Police are treating the death as unexplained.

They said the woman was local, but formal indentification has not yet taken place.
