A YORK restaurant is seeing improved performance after it turned its business around.

La Tasca, which has a restaurant based on Back Swinegate in York, has reported the end of four years of sales decline and the York store is to be revamped after the chain launched a new look format last week.

Before the new management took over the reins, La Tasca York was trading on average 6.2 per cent in decline, since then, the new structure has ensured growth of the restaurant and it's now trading 2 per cent up like for like, above the high street average.

Daniel Moore, general manager at La Tasca York, said: "We were thrilled to receive 5/5 in the Scores on the Doors scheme, the team has all worked really hard to achieve this. What's more, York will be receiving a complete overhaul and make over later this year - £200,000 is being invested to transform the current location into a new concept La Tasca, following the launch of this new concept in the Trafford Centre last week.

"It's an exciting time for tapas fans in York and we'd like to thank all our loyal customer base."

The tapas restaurant has completed a restructuring programme and its new management team, which took over the ailing business three years ago, said figures from the end of the first quarter of 2013 demonstrated a halt to its decline.

Simon Wilkinson, chief executive of La Tasca, added: “These are very exciting times for the business, rather than closing down sites we are now opening new restaurants and rubbing shoulders next door to competitors, and taking market share.

“We are also about to embark on a comprehensive roll-out of our new look within all three concepts across the existing estate as well as looking for acquisitions."
