MEMBERS of the public will be able to quiz the police about mobile speed cameras this week.
Dave Brown, who is the manager of North Yorkshire Police’s mobile safety camera team and PC Andy Forth, will host a live web-chat on Wednesday, between 6pm and 7pm.
Mr Brown, said: “This is a chance for members of the public to ask questions and find out anything they want to know about the cameras, how they are operated, why we use them and what happens once you’ve been caught speeding.”
Last month, North Yorkshire Police introduced three mobile safety cameras following a 20-month pilot scheme.
The pilot was introduced on specific roads to help address the problem of motorcyclist fatalities, killed and seriously injured collisions and other routes where it had been found that speeding was a problem.
During the pilot, more than 26,000 motorists were caught speeding, including a minority driving or riding at extremely dangerous speeds and performing dangerous manoeuvres.
Members of the public are invited to put their questions to Mr Brown and PC Forth by logging on to northyorkshire.police.uk/webchat
