999 CALLS: Police have asked people to ensure their mobile phone is locked while it is in their bag or pocket after three emergency 999 calls were made in error over the weekend. A Darlington Police spokeswoman said: “Obviously, this has resulted in unnecessary work for our call handlers who have to trace the call, and ring the caller back to confirm whether or not there is a genuine emergency. Please remember to lock your phone so that you don't accidentally call the emergency services.”
PACT MEETING: The Faverdale and West Park police and communities together (Pact) meeting will be held at West Park Academy, in Alderman Leach Drive, in Darlington, on Wednesday, April 17, at 6pm. The meeting will be attended by Councillor Richard Grundy and a member of the neighbourhood policing team. For more information email dean.peacock@durham.pnn.police.uk
HISTORY TALK: The next meeting of the Darlington Historical Society will include a talk by Richard Hillary on Raby Castle through the ages. The group meets at the Friends’ Meeting House, in Skinnergate, Darlington, on Wednesday, April 17, at 7.30pm.
