A UNIQUE history of Warrington Wolves which stretches more than 100 metres will be opened on Saturday.

And organisers of the Wire 2 Wolves display in the South Stand at The Halliwell Jones Stadium are hoping as many of the former 1,000 players and their families attend the unveiling.

The timeline has been put together by the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation and mixes the history of the club along with the town.

As well as pictures from famous former players such as Brian Bevan and Alex Murphy, it includes key moments in the history of the borough for the past 125plus years as well.

Included in the panels, which will be put up along the entire length of the South Stand, are the names of all 1,000 plus players to have pulled on the Primrose and Blue.

Neil Kelly, from the foundation, said: “We would love players who have lost ties with the club, and those whose relatives who may no longer be with us played here to get in touch.

“The timeline has been sponsored by Lottery funding and we have also had lots of help from Warrington Museum to get it ready for the opening.”

The launch will take place on Saturday at 9.30am for players and families - while the first team train.

It will then open for staff and sponsors from 11am with a grand opening for members of the public from 1pm.

Mr Kelly says the timeline will then be used by schools on tours round the stadium with many already expressing an interest in becoming involved.
